Mark Neumann - First Post

This book is supposedly about a Brahman named Siddhartha who wants to find nirvana(inner peace). I can't really make sense of it right now because the book mainly starts off talking about how good and obedient Siddhartha was. Siddhartha seems to be pretty happy with his life until he finds out about this religious group called the "Semanas" which he wants to join in order to listen to their teachings. His father doesn't agree with Siddhartha about his plan, but Siddhartha just stands in silence in order to get his father to change his mind, this reminded me about how Ghandi had days of silence in Freedom at Midnight. At this point of the book it seems like Siddhartha is very similar to Ghandi. Later in the book Siddhartha says that he has learned everything there is to know from the Semanas and doesn't really want to listen to the Buddha, but his friend convinces him. He later talks to the Buddha and tells him that he is not joining him because he believes that he must find nirvana in himself by himself. To answer Zakaria's question, yes I do think that Siddhartha will find nirvana, but I wonder what more journeys or events will happen before he does find nirvana. What do you think is going to happen to Siddhartha that might challenge him in finding nirvana?
